NFL legend Darren Sharper sentenced to 20 years for drugging and raping women

NFL star Darren Sharper will serve the next two decades of his life behind bars. Sharper was sentenced after being convicted of drugging and raping women.

The first incident allegedly occurred in 2013 after a woman told LAPD about an encounter she had with Sharper at Century City hotel. According to the Los Angeles Times, the woman said she met Sharper at a bar through a mutual friend. Sharper and the woman eventually caught an Uber and went to the hotel around 2 a.m. At some point, Shaper offered the woman a drink and she accepted. She said she went to the restroom and forgot everything that occurred afterward.

When the woman finally woke up the next morning, she said that she noticed Sharper on top of her. She said that she told Sharper she needed to leave, but he continued to have sex with her.

Two other women came forward about another incident that occurred one year later. The women met Sharper at a bar and invited them to a party in Hollywood. At some point, Sharper told the women he had to get something from his hotel and the women agreed to enter his room. He gave them vodka and cranberry shots after pressuring them to take it. The women said they blacked out and woke up on the bed the next morning. One woman said her vagina was sore and the other woman couldn’t remember what happened hours before. Sharper was eventually sentenced to serve 20 years for the crimes.

It soon became evident that Sharper was a serial rapist after women in Nevada, Arizona, and Louisiana came forward to claim that he raped them. He has been convicted of sex crimes in each state.
Sharper was once a force on the football field having played for the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, and New Orleans Saints.
